Fireworks and Firewalls
Just to fire off two quick shorts on fireworks & shootin' stars, firewalls & lucky stars...
Celestial Fireworks
An astronomical phenomena occured last night when spectacular shooting stars blazed across the New Zealand night skies in a stunning display of celestial fireworks.
Great Firewall of Cyberspace
The Great Wall of China, the centre piece of Chinese pride was built by some 300,000 laborers (mainly criminals, conscript soldiers, and slaves) to keep out invading hordes. That the barbarians later brought down the Qing dynasty, is ultimate proof it did not work.
In the social phenomena of history repeating itself - In March this year, the Chinese information industry (MII) issued a decree requiring all China-based websites - commercial or othewise - to register by 30 June, giving the complete identity of the persons responsible for the sites. According to the authorities, the aim is to control information that "endanger the country".
The Chinese War on Blogs has begun. Guess who is assisting in the construction of The Great Firewall in cyberspace?
Meanwhile, freedom of expression advocate Reporter Without Borders has begun a monthly report as a means to pressure the Chinese government. Will it work, you think? Yes, thank our lucky stars, we are Malaysian bloggers!

aiya,
told you before that I am tech-cacat. If it is easy enough to do, can you give me step 123 soryt of help?
China's regime have been building up its corp of Cyberpolice for some time. Not surprising about this open offensive now. Like the Mao's "Great Leap Forward" of the fifties, this venture into Cyber censorship is like one step forward and 2 steps backward. Well, maybe just 1.5 step only.
A country with some of the worse human rights abuse/records. Remember the scandal about the retrieval of executed criminals' organs?
Something archaic and paranoiac about their own regime ways that hasn't change....inability to face criticism and ultimately self-defeating reactions to them. But its just like building/reinforcing a dyke to prevent the flowing of a river called Cyberspace. They won't succeed ultimately. Just presently something a rearguard action at best.

Yeah and back home AAB is throwing up this wall around APs.
